Term 2 Art

A very belated round-up of the fantastic art my classes produced in term 2. If they look familiar to you it's because I've already posted them on facebook... or perhaps because it's your children's art and is currently on your wall.

The term theme was bugs and butterflies, and the main mediums covered were acrylic paint, charcoal sketches, stencils and potato print making. I really love how the prints and stencils turned out - lots of great designs, and the children got very interested in experimenting with colour and patterns.

More Trees

Spring, with a few earrings on it. The flowers are quilled
I really like my paper tree jewllery stand, so I’ve been making a few more this year. Here are a couple that are finished. The one currently underway is a gold leafed tree to complete the seasons. Of course, I doubt I'll stop there.

Winter
A smaller green leafed one will probably be next, so they will really be a set - my first tree is a bit larger than the others.

Class work Term 4 2014 and 1 2015

Art work from term 1 class. The theme was illustrating poetry.

Some of the fantastic art work the children in my classes have been producing in the past six months. I've put a few of these collages on my Dora Papers facebook page, but realised I'd forgotten to share them here too! So my apologies if you follow both and have seen these already - but really, they're great and worth looking at twice anyway.

Above and below pictures are both from term 4 2014, when the theme for the classes was mythical creatures.

This term it is the time of the insects. I'm looking forward to the wonderful bugs and butterflies I'll get to share here soon.

Icing Roses

February was cake time of year again for me. This year both nieces wanted roses, so I got to learn a new icing technique.

Niece-the-younger’s cake was made to her exacting specifications.

The inside is chocolate, the cake is iced in butter cream, and the roses are made from bought white icing, tinted with liquid food colouring. Heaps of fun to make, and the roses were easy to learn.
